And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called – Genesis 21:12 (KJV).

That’s the Focal Scripture of BeHOPEAssured Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture was God’s response to Abraham while he was grieving over his son, Ishmael on how his wife Sarah, asked him to send him and his mother, Hagar away. This response from God consoled Abraham but seems to initiate a journey of pain, tears and suffering for Hagar.
God spoke. His word, a double-edged sword gave one comfort and rest while same word began a turbulent process for another. Child of God, nothing just happens. Yes, there is nothing that happens to you that God is unaware of. He sometimes permits ills, wrongs, negative experiences to happen to good people in order to establish them for His glory.

Take another look at that your present challenge as if it were a parcel sent from God or as a test that will produce testimonies. Accept that challenge. Take that step knowing that God is with you. Like Jesus prayed at Gethsemane, let your resolve also be; “not my will but Thine, o Lord”. May you not be found seeking deliverance from what is meant to be your blessings.

Nothing evil comes from God. The process you are going through today may look terrifying but it is for a purpose. Keep walking through that valley of the shadow of death; don’t stop or dwell there. God, the Author of Hagar’s challenge is also the Finisher of the establishment of Ishmael. #BeHOPEAssured that He will not abandon you or let you down.
Declare With Me: God is the Author and the Finisher of my faith. He knows all about me and He will not let me down. Amen!
